The process of structural bodywork utilizes:

1.    Assessment to determine a body’s relationship to GRAVITY determining the patterns both structurally & functionally created by the body.
2.    MYOFACIAL TECHNIQUES, SPINAL MECHANICS, and MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUES  aim at a goal of changing a pattern thus allowing a change in function.
3.    Strengthening the CORE through proper alignment & exercising to reduce stress on the neuromuscular system, joints and the entire skeletal system.
4.    Educating client to awareness of maintaining, strengthening and offering better function to change their bodies which are supported by ACTIVE MOVEMENT & BREATHWORK and other modalities like ADAPT TRAINING which are crucial to long term improvement!

Structural bodywork is different from Therapeutic Massage. It has its own specific set of images The Basic Premises & Principles include:

1.    The body exists in relationship with the field of GRAVITY (stacking parts upon one another)
2.    Fascia shapes the body & exhibits the property of PLASTICITY
(ability to be molded and reshaped)
3.    The principle of SEGMENTATION
(pelvis, legs, feet; spine and rib cage; neck, shoulders and arms)
4.    The stated goal of Structural Bodywork is to organize the body along or around its VERTICAL LINE
(lateral view stacked in proper alignment)
           5. Aligning the body along the vertical line strengthens a central “CORE”.

LEFT: The body's structure is not stacked/organized along its vertical line resulting in chronic pain. RIGHT: Proper body alignment resulting from structural bodywork corrects years of chronic pain.
